    Silleteros Parade


    In this occasion the X International Congress on Paracoccidioido mycosis will be accompanied by the celebration of the flower fair, the most important yearly event in the city. Inhabitants from the different villages prepare real works of art with fresh cut flowers, which they then carry on their backs showing them to the public. These are called “silletas”. The main event in the festival is this silleteros parade.

    Visit to the Antioquia Museum (Botero’s Museum) and Plaza Botero.


    This museum is located in the center of the city. It has been renovated and offers tours around the bright spaces, corridor and gardens. For all registered participants at the X International Congress on Paracocci dioidomycosis, this tour does not have an additional cost. The participants will also be able to see the Plaza Botero which exhibits the colossal work donated by Fernando Botero, a wor
    ld famous artist who was born and raised in Medellín. Botero's donation is displayed in 12 exhibit rooms, where a total of 118 works of art are shown, some of which are international paintings from the artist’s private collection. This Plaza has an area of 7,000 square meters, under open skies, where you can see sculptures such as “The hand”, “Eve”, “Man on horseback”, “Maternity”, and “Roman soldier”.
    Guests can discover a surprising art space and have the chance to observe Botero’s art.

    Botanical Garden (US $10)



    At this time you can visit the International Orchid, Birds and Flowers exhibition. Orchids are Colombia’s emblematic flowers with Cattleyas being recognized as the species typical of Medellín. Orchids are the main part of the Botanical Garden exhibition; the Garden is located near to University of Antioquia. Its “orchideoram” – an enormous greenhouse is frequently used to organize world-class exhibitions, and in this case you can appreciate not only the orchids but also birds and other flowers representative of the region.
