Security Concerns

Safety in Medellín is a much-discussed but often-misunderstood topic. Most parts of Medellín city are safe, although as in most large cities one needs to be careful about pickpockets, and we advise taking taxis from recommended numbers or official centers or stands rather than flagging them in the street. Safe and worthwhile places to visit are the many Tourist Centres and Shopping Malls, the upscale Poblado section, the Las Palmas barrio (restaurants and discos), and the El Centro (Downtown Area). There is plenty to see and do, and your visit to Medellín is likely to be a very enjoyable experience.
